A New Chapter in Contemporary Living

After two decades in their family home, Derrick and Gail embraced a new phase of life. With their children having moved out, they set out to create a home that reflects their future, shifting from a traditional period property to a bold, contemporary architectural statement.

Rooted in Landscape and Local Character

While contemporary in form, the house is deeply connected to its setting. Clad in locally sourced Cotswold stone, the material palette draws directly from the surrounding vernacular. Dry stone walls extend seamlessly into the garden, dissolving the boundary between built form and landscape, while the structure itself is embedded into the hillside, giving the impression that it emerges naturally from the ground below.

Designed for Longevity and Accessibility

The home is carefully planned to support long-term living. A level entrance threshold ensures easy access, and the ground floor incorporates a bedroom with en-suite facilities, allowing for single-level living if required. The staircase has also been designed with future adaptability in mind, including provision for a stairlift.
